Family of God

1 Chronicles
Happy Tuesday Olives! Hope you all have an amazing day!
I am going to be honest, as I was reading this chapter I got a little bored. Reading a list of names is just not my thing and I really struggle for what I can gain from it. So, I went searching and read from a devotional about some meanings of some of the names in this chapter. It helped me to look at this verse with different eyes. More than just a list of people, but how they worked together as family.
The son of Uzzi was Izrahiah; the sons of Izrahiah were Michael, Obadiah, Joel and Isshiah. These 5 all became chiefs. According to their family genealogy, they had 36,000 men ready for battle, for they had many wives and children.
1 Chronicles 7:3-4
Family histories can tell us quite a bit about who a person is. How you were raised can have an influence morally on the person you become. There are many different roles in a family. We all play an important part. Each person in your family brings strengths and weaknesses that are crucial to the family development.

But if anyone does not provide for his relatives and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
1 Timothy 5:8
More than our earthly family, each of us is so important in the family of God! I know I can catch myself thinking “What can I offer, what would someone gain or learn from me”? But those thoughts are not from God. We each have an individual purpose and plan. We just have to be open to when God calls us to that plan. I look at this list of names and some we recognize and many we don’t. But all are warriors. We are called to be warriors for God because we get our strength from the one who has all the strength in the world.

The joy of the Lord is your strength.
Nehemiah 8:10
Prayer – Jesus, you have made us in your own image. Look with compassion on the whole human family. Break down the walls that can separate us and unite us in you. Help us to know how important each of us is in your kingdom plan. We all play a part, and we all have a history and story to help those around us. Use us to show your strength to others and help us accomplish your purpose on earth. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
