SOAP 1 Chronicles 29: The Best Example

The Best Example

1 Chronicles 29

Besides, in my devotion to the temple of my God I now give my personal treasures of gold and silver for the temple of my God, over and above everything I have provided for this holy temple.

1 Chronicles 29:3

David was one of the best examples. We read about him dancing for God, here, in this chapter we read about hime giving of his own resources. He was not a perfect man. He made mistakes, pretty significant mistakes, and he was forgiven for them. He continued his life, still serving God by example.

Because of his giving heart, because of his example, the people around him followed:

The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely and wholeheartedly to the Lord. David the king also rejoiced greatly.

1 Chronicles 29:9

David continued to be an example to the people he served by praying to God in the next verses.

David was far from perfect, but he did not let his imperfections prevent him from giving his all to God.

It is a saying to “live by example”. I do not often have the confidence to believe that I can be a good example.

Life….it is so messy. Despite all the mess, I have to remind myself that I can still be an example. You can be an example. We don’t have to be perfect. Our families don’t have to be perfect. Our decisions don’t have to be perfect. We do have to love Jesus and do our best in all of the mess to keep our eyes on Him. To ask forgiveness when needed. To live and love and be an example whenever and wherever we can.

Jesus, thank you for this beautiful day. Thank you for allowing the easy access to Your Word. I am grateful that I can read it on my computer, listen in my car, read it on my phone where ever I am, and use the leather bound Word of God that sits on a table. I am thankful that there are so many amazing examples of God loving, very imperfect people for us to be inspired by. Help us to have the confidence of living imperfect lives, but still being an example of Your love, Your grace, Your mercy. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
