Because of Their Unfaithfulness

1 Chronicles 9

All Israel was listed in the genealogies recorded in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah. They were taken captive to Babylon because of their unfaithfulness.

1 Chronicles 9:1 NIV

This chapter is one of newness. There is a new genealogy documented because of the years of captivity and the return to their heritage.

I wondered though, as I read, what would be different if they were not unfaithful?

This is a completely unanswerable question. And, even if there was an answer, it would not really matter. God’s will, God’s plan, cannot be thwarted. God is always in control.

We can make the decisions that do not align with God’s plan for us. Captivity did not seem to be the original plan He had for His beloved people.

We can make the wrong career choice, the wrong relationship choice, the wrong home choice, the wrong friendship choice. Not one of our wrong decisions change the reality that God is in control. There is not any wrong decision that we make that change the reality that God is worthy of our praise. He is always God.

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

Revelations 22:13 NIV

We should always strive to make the right choice, the better choice. I can rest, though, in the knowledge that even if I make the wrong choice, God is still in control.

Jesus, everyday I am more amazed by the greatness of Your love, Your mercy, Your grace. It is so incredible to be loved through my errors and through my mistakes.

PRAYER: Jesus, today, help me to grow towards You and to make decisions that grow me towards You. Help me to show others Your beautiful love.
