SOAP 1 Chronicles 6: The Assignment

The Assignment

1 Chronicles 6

Now these are the men whom David appointed over the service of song in the house of the Lord, after the ark came to rest. They were ministering with music before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of meeting, until Solomon had built the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, and they served in their office according to their order.

‭‭I Chronicles‬ ‭6‬:‭31‬-‭32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

But Aaron and his sons offered sacrifices on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense, for all the work of the Most Holy Place, and to make atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded.

‭‭I Chronicles‬ ‭6‬:‭49‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Called. An assignment. A calling. Directions given in birth.

Did you know God’s assignment is no different for you?

God’s assignment given to the family of Levi is so ornate, detailed, and integral to God. Everyone had their assignment. And so do you.

I know calling can seem so unclear and veiled. I know that for me I assumed that I would hear an audible voice declaring the reason for my birth and that I would gladly skip to it and accomplish all that God ordained that I would.

Unfortunately, that was not so. I often felt lost, not on track, and unused- and in turn unaware and uncertain of “who” or “what” God created me for.

Can I share a revealed truth I received?

I’m sure you have heard of the Great Commission.  Jesus commissions His disciples to:

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭28‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭AMP‬‬

The commission is a command not a request. A command to all who follow Him. It’s not one we can pick and choose, regardless of our comfort, choice, or talent. And it was in my acceptance of the command that I received my call. To be transparent- I didn’t want it. It didn’t suit me. I was no evangelist. It was a surrender of my will.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

You see I put me aside and looked only to Him- who is my hope and calling. It is Jesus. He is my hope. It is He who is my calling. He is all that I long to be.

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

*emphasis mine

If you know me, you might know how ridiculous what I’m about to share is.

I one day was unblinded to why God made me in a sudden eureka moment. Aha! I am.…. an ….. encourager.  I am… an encourager.  I am an encourager! I am an encourager!  I could feel not just my feet leaping in excitement and awareness but my spirit too!

What might seem so simple and even easy to see was somehow hidden?

When I look at it now, it is quite obvious, and perhaps it is that way with you too.

You are fearfully and wonderfully made with purpose and intention.

Lets pray:

Thank you God, for making me so wonderfully complex and unique. I am grateful that I was made with purpose and intention.  Lord, reveal in me your intentionality. Reveal to me the call and plan You have on my life. Teach me to acknowledge You and all Your ways in everything I do. In Jesus’s name I pray, amen!
