SOAP 1 Chronicles 2: Who Am I

Who Am I

1 Chronicles 2

These are the sons of Israel; Ruben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun,

I Chronicles 2:1 KJV

I have to say reading genealogy isn’t easy. It’s so easy to skip over these chapters, look past the names.

Have you ever done your own family tree? Gone onto Ancestry.com to see where you come from, who you are? Do you come from farmers, plant workers, clerical workers, craftsman?

Several years ago I started our family tree. It was interesting to me to see where and when my family immigrated from other countries. Where they decided to settle, did they stay or did they more around. Everyone I found has an impact on me and my story. They may not have been people of great importance, but without them I would not be here.

When reading the lineage in this chapter they are telling you about the tribes of Israel. Showing you who played a part in the line of David, from where Jesus would come. Ordinary people living their lives with no idea the impact their family lineage would have on the world.

Through family lineage, God shows how he uses everyone to fulfill His purpose. We see people from all walks of life, some positive and some negative, but all made an impact on society and shaped future prominent people. The same applies to our family trees.

It’s so easy to just live our lives and not stop and think about the people who helped make us who we are. We also need to stop and think about how we are effecting the future. Who will come after us and what will they do? How are we making a difference?

PRAYER: Jesus, thank you for reminding me to stop and recognize those who have gone before me and how they have helped to shape who I am. Help me to stop and take time to think about the impact I have on those around me and to strive to have a Godly influence. Lord I pray for my children and my children’s children, and generations to come, that they will set their hope in you as it says in Psalms 78.

In Jesus Name, Amen
