Father of Lights

We string up lights on our homes, drag trees indoors- truthfully to facilitate our delight for lights, place them on banisters, windows, outdoor foliage- you name it and we’re putting lights on it. We will go to lights shows, tree lightings, trains lit up for flare, the zoo in the dead of Wisconsin winter to look at lights.
There is such a beauty in the twinkle of Christmas lights- they create awe, delight, wonder, a lightness for our weary souls, drawing us into nearness.
I know it may be a small thing… but I encourage you to pause when you feel your soul lift, your delight dance, and have awe on your lips while looking at the displays of lights this season- remember the Father of Lights, the One who’s eyes twinkle in love when He catches your gaze, the One who created the sun and moon to count your days, the One who longs for you to draw near to Him as you do those beautiful lights.
Let it be a call to attention- the Creator, Gift-giver, and Gift Himself is calling you to delight and awe in wonder of Him- the Light of the World!
Thank you Lord for being the Giver of every perfect gift, for being the Father of Lights, and for being the Light of the World. I will draw near to You Lord when I linger in the twinkling lights of Christmas. Amen.
