December 24, 2023: Come

Come

“And they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

“And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger.”

‭‭Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I love the imagery “with haste” gives. It’s when you’re in such a hurry that you don’t have time to put your cereal bowls in the sink, you leave it right where you ate, still O’s and milk in the bowl. The lights are left on and the house looks a wreck but you go now because you must. There is something greater calling to you more than tidiness or even care, and you must go with haste.

I’m not sure what type of church you grew up in or attend, but where we attend there’s always a sweet moment at the end of service called an altar call.  It’s the finale to the teaching of the Word of God, it’s the time where you take what you heard and you pray and ask God to help apply it to your life and you do it at the altar.

It’s my absolute favorite moment of the service. Hearts are always softer. Walls and guards have been lowered to God and it’s the perfect time for the Holy Spirit to move and clear out some junk.

This scripture feels like the altar call moment to me.  The what are you going to do with it moment:

A. Are you going to apply it?

B. Harden your heart to it?

I would love to say that every moment I should’ve run to Jesus I did, but it just isn’t the case. The Lord is just so gracious to us in that way-He continues to extend mercy after mercy, grace upon grace, until we turn and run (with haste) to Him.

Could this Christmas Eve be that call to you? Has God been tugging on your heart about some things? Have you drawn closer to Him throughout this season or could you draw closer still? Have you made plans to attend a Christmas or Christmas Eve Service?

I can’t think of a better opportunity to run to Jesus than at tonight’s altar call or service. What are you going to do with this moment? Is it time to surrender all your worries? Your control? Your toiling? Is it time that you let Jesus take the wheel?

Is it time to run with haste to Jesus? Yes, you might already have plans. Yes, not everything might move done. But this moment isn’t one you let slip by, this is a moment and decision that will effect eternity.

Perhaps, you e been living for Jesus a long time but you find yourself lugging around shame from your yesterdays. You find yourself doubting who God has called you to be. You find yourself stagnant in your faith. Today is for you too! Run to Jesus and throw down all of your heavy weights.

“I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭119‬:‭60‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Prayer: Thank you Jesus for loving me first, for loving me with extravagance and without reserve. Thank you for knocking on my heart and for drawing me to yourself. It’s because of your sweet mercy that I can run to you. I open my heart to you, “Here I am Lord! I am Yours.” I’m running to you. I won’t allow any thing to stand between us. I place you first. I’m not concerned about the mess, I know when I come I will find you, and the worries of lesser things will dwindle in comparison to You. I’m ready. Here I come. In Jesus’ mighty and precious name we pray. Amen!

Game Time!

It's time for some games! I like crazy games but I know that doesn't suit everyone. Whatever game you choose just have fun an vmbe with one another.
