Wonder

"But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, 'Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.'"
Matthew 1:20

How many times could I have used an angelic intervention? Too many I think. I have never seen an Angel, at least not that I know of. I’ve heard stories though. Beautiful, amazing heavenly stories. I've heard some that will make you stand in amazement, fill you with wonder, and perhaps even make you walk a lil’ differently.
Having an angelic experience really isn't the point I want to make though. What I want to ask you is: Are you positioned to see wonder? To experience a miracle?

Transport yourself back to a childhood Christmas, one when there was palpable anticipation and excitement? Can you remember what it looked like though that little girls eyes? The delight! The mystery! The amazement! Everything was new and fresh!
This was a time before life had taken its toll and hardened you. Or dare I say, matured you. A time before life’s challenges forever shaped your view and distorted the lens that you see through. A time before you knew what disappointment felt like. A time before you stopped trusting and loving extravagantly. Can you muster the courage not just to remember but to relax the rigid frame of life in which you might see through and way you experience every day?

It feels so far removed from the woman I am today. Is it even possible to see, feel, hear, respond in a childlike capacity now? All things are possible in Christ!
Jesus says this about children:
“Listen to the truth I speak: Whoever does not open their arms to receive God’s kingdom like a teachable child will never enter it.””
Mark 10:15 TPT

“Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 18:4 AMP
I confess, I’ve been allowing life to teach me, when the teaching I should be receiving should only be at the feet of THE Teacher- Jesus. Let’s not sit at any other’s feet.
Be childlike again. Let your imagination reawaken your view and perspective. Let awe and wonder run wild. Let the wildly impossible things God can do stir up faith, awe, belief, and wonder. Doesn't seem like those should all go together?

Prayer: Thank you Lord for the reminder that being childlike, playful, and full of faith in wonder is how You long for me to be and remain. I will always be a childin your eyes-help me be a child to You in my own. Let awe be my posture and delight be my attitude. Let laughter and joy in the Lord be my companion as I walk with You. In Jesus's beautiful name I pray- Amen!

Sleep/ lay under the tree. Grab your kids or your spouse and get under that tree. Turn all of the other lights off. Turn on some whimsical Christmas music. Make some memories together. We through all of our pillows on the floor ( because I'm of and need extra cushion 🤣). We talked. We dreamt together. We played a few games-Mancala and Spot it. Share a picture of what you did. We'd love to see how you allowed childlike playfulness remind you of who you still can be!

I love this! My kiddos lay under the tree with the lights off in the room each year! They bask in the wonder and the beauty. Why haven't I thought to try it to?!? There is so much wonder in the world but as an adult I'm so often in a rush and pulled in 383 ways. Here are some of my favorite Christmas tree pics!
