Hope - The best anchor

Pavlova - The best dessert

If you do not know what pavlova is, scroll through the pics, be brave and give it a try. This amazing dessert is playfully named:

Snowy Christmas Pavlova

Now that you saw the finished product...on to hope and the prep pics. (Pavlova: a sweet cold dish consisting of a meringue (= the transparent part of an egg cooked slowly with sugar) with a layer of fruit and cream on top, dictionary.cambridge.org)

Hebrews 6:19

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, (NIV)

Hope is the best anchor. And hope in Jesus is the best kind of hope. It is a hope that we should flee towards as the verse in Hebrews 6:18 states:

God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. (NIV)

Is there a time that you remember fleeing towards hope to be greatly encouraged?

ree

In the very worst of situations there is a place that we can flee towards to be greatly encouraged. Does anyone else have memories in the season that they would like to forget?

I truly love the Christmas season. I love hot chocolate, Christmas movies, Christmas music, Christmas decor, time with family, playing games....I could go on.

I also have these moments of dread because this particular time of year also has some particularly difficult to forget moments of pain.

So it is with particular joy (yes, I used that word 3 times in two sentences...lol) that I read these verses and know that in any situation I can flee to the hope that Jesus provides. Hope in Jesus is a much superior anchor than any traditions.

Keep old traditions, make new traditions, but keep Jesus as your anchor of hope!

And...attempt the dessert - it is amazing!!!
