Honoring God with Your Decisions

1 CORINTHIANS 6
“For you have been bought with a price; therefore honor God with your bodies.”
1 Corinthians 6:20 (NIV)
What a heavy price Jesus paid for us. He could have just gone to the cross and had his blood poured out to redeem us of our sins. Instead, he subjected himself to blows, cuts, spits, bruises and whips. Isaiah 53, which is a prophecy about Jesus’arrest and crucifixion, says it is by the stripes on His back we are healed.”

There is nothing we can do to repay Jesus. What he did for us on the cross is something we must honor. We cannot repay him, but we should not be wasting or squandering his sacrifice. We must always honor what was done to redeem us.
I know for myself self-control is a bit contradictory. Any control I have over my body is a gift from God. But looking at this simply, I need to use the self-control that he gives me! I have made strides in the past years. Keeping healthier food around and exercising and taking good care of my health. I know my salvation does not hinge on my health, but it is an opportunity to glorify Him. I need to see it that way and take advantage!

Prayer: Father, your goodness deserves the front page news! I know that my sphere of influence only reaches so far, but I want to glorify your name however I can. Holy Spirit, help change my perspective and see everything about my body as an opportunity to glorify You, Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
