Build God Confidence!
Pride is an odd thing. Some of us have too much and some have too little. It is a
delicate balance of valuing yourself but not more than others and definitely not
more than God. The Bible tells us that pride goes before a fall.

If we think too highly of our own knowledge or opinion, we can lose out. We might
miss an opportunity, a friendship, or a chance to learn something new. This is
especially true when it comes to our relationship with God. He knows more than
we ever will. We still at times, find ourselves giving God suggestions on how to do
things, or when to do them. I know I have been guilty of this. I can feel like I have
the best plan and know how God should resolve certain challenges.
1 Corinthians 10:11-13 tells us:
“These are all warning markers—DANGER!—in our history books, written down so that
we don’t repeat their mistakes. Our positions in the story are parallel—they at the
beginning, we at the end—and we are just as capable of messing it up as they were.
Don’t be so naive and self-confident. You’re not exempt. You could fall flat on your
face as easily as anyone else. Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate
God-confidence.
No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others
have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll
never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come
through it.”
I Corinthians 10:11-13 MSG
It is so easy to look at the Israelites and pass judgement about how the responded
to God. They ended up wandering around for 40 years due to not listening. We
have the same hard-headedness and can end up in a place we never meant to be. I
can feel lost and like I have been wandering around the same issue for a long time.

I do not want to miss what God has for me or waste my time on things that are not
the best for me because of my stubbornness and pride. I want to be quick to
respond to God’s prompting and go the way He wants me to. I do not want
confidence in what I can do, I want confidence in what God can do.
Prayer: Jesus, help me to ask you before I act or open my mouth. Help me to hear your
voice clearly.I want to trust you more than myself or anyone else. I don’t want to
think I know better. Forgive me for the times I haven’t asked for your direction
and for when I haven’t listened to the direction you have given. I need you to
guide my life. Only you know the best things for me. You have planned them out
for me since before I was born. Thank you for your constant love, mercy, and grace. Amen.
