What A Wonderful Teacher

 What a Wonderful Teacher

ISAIAH 28

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is a wonderful teacher, and he gives the farmer great wisdom.

Isaiah 28:29 NLT

And at the harvest, the delicate herbs and spices, the dill and cumin, are treated delicately. On the other hand, wheat is threshed and milled, but still not endlessly. The farmer knows how to treat each kind of grain. He’s learned it all from God-of-the-Angel-Armies, who knows everything about when and how, and where.

Isaiah 28:27-29 MSG

This chapter is about Samaria and their drunkenness. The Lord will send their enemy to trample them. Then in verse 5, it says

Then at last the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will himself be Israel’s glorious crown. He will be the pride and joy of the remnant of his people.

This chapter felt a little all over the place. Verse 29 really grabbed me. I love how it talks about God teaching the farmer.

I love to learn and it bothers me that I have a hard time understanding what Isaiah is talking about. It brings me comfort that just as God gave the farmer wisdom, he can also give me wisdom.

My son has recently been exploring other sports. He’s great at track and football and also has an interest in basketball and baseball as of late. Like many children, he loves being good at things. It is really encouraging to see him go through the learning phase of both basketball and baseball. He’s no longer the seasoned player but he pays attention and I can see the layers of knowledge begin to stack up after every practice. I believe this has everything to do with the wonderful men of God in his life who take the time to teach him.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for being such an amazing teacher. You know exactly which way we need to learn. You send us gifted communicators and teachers to help us grow. Help us not get discouraged by what we don’t know but encouraged by what we do. In Jesus name! Amen.
