The Power in the Cloud

ISAIAH 4
Then God will bring back the ancient pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night
and mark Mount Zion and everyone in it with his glorious presence, his immense,
protective presence, shade from the burning sun and shelter from the driving rain.
Isaiah 4:5-6 MSG
Clouds in nature are deceptive to the eye. Sometimes they look full and fluffy, but it is only
vapor. Remember a time when you laid on your back and looked up into the clouds? One
looked like a monster, one looked like a dragon, one looked like a tree….but even while we
gazed at the imagined shape, it quickly changed.

Here is the weather.gov definition of a cloud - “A cloud is defined as a visible aggregate of
minute droplets of water or particles of ice or a mixture of both floating in the free air. Each
droplet has a diameter of about a hundredth of a millimeter and each cubic meter of air will
contain 100 million droplets.”

Those 100 million droplets can quickly change their shape and direction.
I always wonder what the cloud was like for the Israelites. Whatever it was like, it was an
intense and full and powerful presence of God. As I was imagining today what the cloud was
like….I also reflected on these verses.
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my
witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in
Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud
while they were watching, and they could no longer see him.
Acts of the Apostles 1:8-9 NLT
After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.
Then they preached the word of God with boldness.
Acts of the Apostles 4:31 NLT
All of the power of that cloud that the Israelites experienced…within us, who are filled with His Spirit. And for those who have not yet been filled with His Spirit…He is waiting and wanting.

The mysterious cloud that guided, protected, provided for the Israelites…is within us. I don’t
think always make sense. I have moments of doubt. Reflect on your moments of doubt for a
moment.

Now reflect on all those miraculous moments that you KNEW that all the power contained within that cloud was in you and for you. The times you should have died, the times that you should have been filled with fear, the times that you were talking and it did not sound like you, the times you prayed with a friend with the exact right words and the exact right time, the times when all you could see was darkness, yet Jesus filled your space with His light.
All the power and protection and guidance of the cloud is in His Holy Spirit which is within you!

Prayer: Jesus, I am so thankful that things don’t have to make sense. I am so thankful that You continue to grow our faith. Thank you for Your power, Your presence, Your guidance that You decided to fill us with. I pray that today is a day filled with feeling Your power in every movement and every word. Use our words and our actions today to help others that do not know You to feel Your beautiful love. In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
This made me think of Elijah praying for rain: “The seventh time the assistant said, “I see a small cloud the size of a human hand coming up from the sea.” Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Pull yourself together, go down the mountain, and don’t let the rain hold you back.’”“
1 Kings 18:44 CEB
I am so awed by this grace and gift of God. I can’t comprehend it- nor do I think I should.
My understanding often limits the power of God- so true. I want to live in God’s grace, being fully able to receive without understanding or explanation from the Father. I more than ever want to walk by faith (by His Spirit) and not by sight (by my own knowing and understanding).
Father, give me the grace I need to walk by Your Spirit alone, seeing in the Spiritual what WILL be in the natural. On earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
This has me in tears. So beautiful. I’m seeing God in little ways everyday in my life. I know it’s not necessarily because he is there now more than before. It’s because of the posture of my heart, my faith and bc I’m looking for him. Let me be in the business of sharing that with others who need it just as much as me! ❤️
