Just Trust God

ISAIAH 37
“Listen! When he hears a certain report, I will make him want to return to his own country, and there I will have him cut down with the sword.”
Isaiah 37:7 NIV
These words are spoken through the prophet Isaiah involving some of King Hezekiah’s people who were confronted by the Assyrian king’s people (Sennacherib). The people are telling them the King of Judah must join them or be cut down. Saying “Do not trust your God Jehovah to save you”. So King Hezekiah’s people went to tell Isaiah first. Isaiah was not afraid – he knew his God and what he could do. He knew that God would save Hezekiah.
“But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.”
2 Thessalonians 3:3

What Isaiah says above is exactly what happened. Isaiah was telling the people “Just TRUST God!” I know that is an easy statement to say. And we know that God is faithful, true and keeps his promises. But in the moment or darkness, worry, fear and crisis do we truly believe in that statement? Do we know, deep in our hearts, that God has us? I know for myself I want to say YES! All the time I believe that. But I am human and I doubt. And worry. Even though he has proved it to me over and over, I still doubt and worry maybe this time it won’t happen. I am working on hard on that this year. Stopping those thoughts, going back to the times God provided for me and saw me through things that at times I did not even know about!
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
2 Peter 3:9 NIV
This verse above speaks volumes to me. When the slowness of answering a pray or need I have (slowness in my mind) gets the best of me I need to remember that is the devil attacking. The devil is saying “You’re not going to improve, it’s going to get worse and God won’t help you.” I tell you he will!
In his time, God will work it out! And when the timing seems slow, lean into it. So often he is using that waiting period to teach us to TRUST! I am slowly learning that when I come out of a testing season I am so much better on the other side. God needs to do this slowly with us, so we understand his sovereignty.

Prayer: Father, you are strong and mighty to save. You are righteous and your justice is good. You are a loving and merciful God, and it humbles me. Help me to see you Jesus, through all the joys and sorrows that come up. I confess that I am still prone to pride and I fail to keep you as the only One I worship in my heart. Please forgive me of this sin. Putting myself before you. Lord, tech me to keep my priorities straight and to keep my focus on you. You are the inheritance I should seek. Let me find you and find my joy and peace in you. Be glorified in my life God. In Jesus’s name I pray, Amen.
