SOAP Isaiah 25 : Let's Eat!

Let’s Eat!

ISAIAH 25

”In Jerusalem, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will spread a wonderful feast for all the people of the world. It will be a delicious banquet with clear, well-aged wine and choice meat. There he will remove the cloud of gloom, the shadow of death that hangs over the earth. He will swallow up death forever! The Sovereign Lord will wipe away all tears. He will remove forever all insults and mockery against his land and people. The Lord has spoken!“

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭25‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This may or may not be referring to the great marriage feast of Christ and His church. But when I read this passage I'm at that table. The table is set with the most delicious and exquisite food and beverages and I'm hungry. I'm awed by the lavish abundance of it all.

And for the first time I'm thinking about what

it would be like to eat and drink on the other side of eternity. I suppose I thought in my imagination we floated about not engaging in earthly activities such as eating. I thought we would never hunger again because well we didn't eat, we didn't need to. And maybe that is true. We don't need anything because ALL is satisfied in the presence of God. Even now.

A real Psalm 23 picture cast here: He prepares a meal for you in the midst of your enemies- it's there while you dine with the King that He removes the shroud of death from you and the entire earth.

Death contains no more power. Wielding no more sadness, separation, or despair. It lacks question or misunderstanding. No gloom. It is no more, it contains not an ounce of power physically, emotionally, or spiritually, it is submitted to God’s sovereignty.

The disdain, insult, and mockery of God’s people is lifted and no longer weighing heavy. Every tear. Every tear shed in sadness, despair, humiliation, reproach, or pain- they are all dried. The comfort and full peace of God transcends over all of His children.

This chapter is full of gratitude. What are some things you need to thank God for? I know I take so many convenient novelties for granted so today I'm grateful for:

  1. Electricity

  2. Plumbing

  3. Accessible Drinking Water

  4. Heat

  5. A mattress and bedding

Prayer: There are limitless things to thank You for Lord!  I want to possess an attitude of gratitude. I want gratitude to be my first response. I have so much and I don't want to lose focus and ever have an outlook of lack. You are all I need, in less or plenty.  Thank you for saving and setting me free. Thank you that death no longer has any sting and I am heaven bound for an eternity spent with you.
