SOAP 2 Chronicles 26: If

IF

2 Chronicles 26

But when he had become powerful, he also became proud, which led to his downfall. He sinned against the Lord his God by entering the sanctuary of the Lord’s Temple and personally burning incense on the incense altar.

‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭26‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

In this Chapter, we learn that Uzziah became king at 16.  I can’t imagine that!

Uzziah was sixteen years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-two years. His mother was Jecoliah from Jerusalem.

‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭26‬:‭3‬ ‭NLT‬‬

We learn that he did what God wanted.  He followed God until he became proud.

I wonder, did he feel better than the priests? Entitled to do what he wanted?  Above God’s sight, direction, or correction?

Have I ever felt that way?  I think I have.  The Bible tells us that pride can be harmful to us if we place ourselves above God.  It seems Uzziah did that.

What if he had repented?   What if he had seen his error and asked God to forgive him?   We know God forgave David for his sin so I think God would have forgiven Uzziah.

The lesson I see is that we might go astray, think too highly of ourselves, and not follow what God would want but IF we repent and ask for forgiveness He will forgive us!!

Jesus, help us to turn to You.  You are not against us, You want the best for us.  Help us submit to Your will and keep our hearts tender toward you. Amen
