Humbled

2 Chronicles 12
So the leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, “The Lord is righteous.” Now when the Lord saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, “They have humbled themselves; therefore I will not destroy them, but I will grant them some deliverance. My wrath shall not be poured out on Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.
II Chronicles 12:6-7 NKJV
Leading is hard.
Leaders lead.
Leaders lead even when it is hard.
Leaders don’t give up.
Leaders don’t quit when it’s hard.
Leaders assume blame.
Leaders assume responsibility.
Leaders can be humbled before humiliation.
When he humbled himself, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, so as not to destroy him completely; and things also went well in Judah.
II Chronicles 12:12 NKJV
I am grateful for this reminder and example. As much as I know leading is difficult it is also worth it. It’s no small price to pay, and in King Rehoboam’s case it went well for all of Judah because he chose to humble himself before the Lord.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
James 4:10 NKJV
It makes me all the more grateful for the leadership I am under that humbles themselves. And it gives me encouragement and courage to be submitted to doing the same.
God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,
I Peter 5:5b-6 NKJV
Lord, thank you for your word. Thank you for your light and truth. I am so grateful for your correction and leading. Teach me to be quick to get low and humble myself, to quickly uproot any pride or bitterness. I want your grace and never your resistance. I am your child and long to be near you. In Jesus’s name, amen.
