Prayer of Faith

JAMES 5
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
James 5:15 NKJV
What is the prayer of faith?
To answer that we first need to talk about faith. Our relationship and belief in God is based on faith. We rely on our 5 senses, what we can see, hear, touch, taste and smell.
This is how we experience the world but not how we experience God.
Faith is how we experience and have relationship with God. It is also how we receive what Jesus has done for us.
Hebrews chapter 11 is a great chapter on faith. A favorite verse of mine is:
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to god must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hebrews 11:6 NKJV

When we pray we need to have faith that what we are asking god can and will do.
Jesus answered and said unto them, verily I say unto you, if ye have faith, and doubt no, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, but thou removed; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Matthew 21:21-22 NKJV
This is the prayer of the faith. To call on the name of the lord and ask for what he has promised his children. His word is filled with his promises. He wants us well, he wants us whole. But do we believe that? do we believe the promises for our lives and the lives of those we are praying for are real and that they are for us?
For with God nothing shall be impossible.
Luke 1:37 NKJV
If only it were that easy. My 5 senses want to get in the way. When I pray I want to see immediate results, I want proof and it doesn’t always work that way. Again that is where faith comes in. I have to believe that he is the rewarder in Hebrews 11, that he can and wants these things for my life, Matthew 21, and that nothing is too big for God, Luke 1:37.

So Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17 NKJV
To grow your faith you must be in the word. You need to read it and meditate on it, memorize it. It needs to be hidden in your heart so that when you are in prayer God can bring it to your remembrance. Then you can speak the words over yourself and the person you are praying for.
Prayer: Jesus thank you for your word. God you are who you say you are and you will do what you say you will do. Your word is alive and active in me. I speak life over those reading these words. We will walk in faith and not fear. Lord give us eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart to receive all that you have for us. We ask for a faith revolution in our lives, change the way we think, believe, speak and act. In Jesus name, amen!
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
James 5:16 NKJV
