On That Day….On This Day

On That Day…On This Day

ISAIAH 19

”On that Day, Israel will take its place alongside Egypt and Assyria, sharing the blessing from the center. God-of-the-Angel-Armies, who blessed Israel, will generously bless them all: “Blessed be Egypt, my people!... Blessed be Assyria, work of my hands!... Blessed be Israel, my heritage!”“

Isaiah 19:24-25 MSG

In much of the Old Testament and in the book of Isaiah we see God’s great destruction and God’s great Triumphs. He both builds up and He tears down. We also see His anger and disappointment. It feels difficult to read about the many destructions in this book. There is definitely a time for destruction. It feels better to notice His Majesty, His decisiveness, His compassion and His love.

What I thought about as I finished this chapter is that God decides when the day will come. On that day…

There is a day that we are born and there is a day that we will die. There is a day for war and there is a day for reconciliation.

The sun rises and it sets. The days come and they go. God remains. He remains steadfast and true to His Words. The Words we read each day are truth. His truth. Do I apply His truth to my life everyday? I am learning. There are so many hard things that I do not understand. I think I know which way to go and I get so ready to run straight and then there is a bend in the road and it throws me into chaos. The only thing that makes sense is Jesus.

He know all the days. He knows this day and that day and those days. He is the Alpha and the Omega.

I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.

Revelation 22:13, NIV

I would like to get more in the habit of asking Jesus about “this day”. What will You do today, Jesus? How can I impact the people that You put in my path today? I can also pray about this day, with faith and boldness, as we read about last week Tuesday.

Prayer: Jesus, intervene today in my life and in the lives of the people I know, the people I meet. Intervene in the lives of my family members that do not yet know You. Intervene in sickness. Intervene in grief. Be our healer, our joy in mourning, our Counsellor, our light in the darkness, our path through the chaos. Jesus, I want You to be greater than all else, I want Your brightness to outshine all the shiny things in my life. Guide me closer to You on this day and on that day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
