Exalted

Exalted

ISAIAH 10

Shall the ax boast itself against him who chops with it?

Or shall the saw exalt itself against him who saws with it?

As if a rod could wield itself against those who lift it up,

Or as if a staff could lift up, as if it were not wood!

Isaiah 10:15

These who became God's enemies boast against Him, exalt themselves above Him, believe they wield themselves and the power they have been given. As if they could do anything without Him lifting them - as if they were not created by Him, through Him, and for Him.

God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

James

Pride is ugly. Pride exalts itself. I'm skipping ahead a bit, but this is the one of the best descriptions of pride I can find in scripture.

How you are fallen from heaven,

O Lucifer, son of the morning!

How you are cut down to the ground,

You who weakened the nations!

For you have said in your heart:

‘I will ascend into heaven,

I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;

I will also sit on the mount of the congregation

On the farthest sides of the north;

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,

I will be like the Most High.’

Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,

To the lowest depths of the Pit.

Isaiah 14:12-15

So often I find myself operating out of my own capacity. My flesh. Flesh is the part of me that the Bible describes as at war with the Spirit. Our flesh and spirit are in constant competition for control and influence our soul (our will and desires).

Flesh operation means I'm not being influenced or abiding in the Holy Spirit and that's when I become prideful.

I am created for God, by God, through God.

I need Him.

He is my breath giver.

And He is the beauty that takes my breath away.

He is the goodness in every moment.

And He is what makes the moment good.

He is what is essential.

Prayer: Yeshua (Jesus), I abide in You, I can do nothing apart from You! I need you to breathe - to walk - to be joyful - to thrive - to dream - to inspire - to grow - to be watered - to be planted. You are essential. I draw near. I remind myself to abide in You, to talk, listen, and hear from You. I lean in and trust in You. Amen.
